New Parents

New Families, welcome to Green Lake!

The Basics

Staying up to date: To make sure you see all official announcements and GLC news, please try to read the emails you receive from Green Lake Crew (sent from the GLC office via Constant Contact). If you don’t currently receive emails, please sign up now.

For casual news and to ask other families questions: Join the free private Slack group GLC Junior Parents. (Ask a Slack group member or email the GLC Boosters if you need an invitation to join.) This parent group is separate from the Slack channels used by the girls and boys teams for their team communications.

#Rowinglife: Your junior rowers (novices and experienced) will be rowing Monday to Friday and are expected to attend every session they can. (Note: The official start time says 4:15 p.m. but coaches often want rowers to arrive at 4 p.m. to warm up.) There will also be many regattas, some of which involve early morning or overnight travel and additional fees. (If you need scholarship aid, please contact the GLC office at 206-684-4074.) #EXProwinglife: Once rowers are experienced (usually after a full year or a full spring season of rowing), they will be rowing the same Monday to Friday schedule, plus Saturday mornings for two hours.
